Privacy Policy

EFFECTIVE 6/25/2026 · 20MM (20 MILE MARCH)
PROVIDED BY ERIC WARD

This Privacy Policy explains how 20MM ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. We have designed 20MM to keep your data private by keeping it on your device. Please read this policy to understand our practices.

The short version

20MM stores everything you enter on your own device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information. There are no accounts, no behavioral tracking, and no advertising. Your data stays with you. The only third-party service the app uses is RevenueCat, which processes your in-app purchase if you choose to unlock the Pro version — it does not have access to any content you enter in the app.

01 — Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. 20MM does not require an account, a login, an email address, or any sign-up to use.

The content you create in the app — your daily summaries, mood and energy ratings, tags, pursuits, deep work sessions, tasks, goals, and settings — is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this content. It is never sent to us or to any third party.

02 — How Your Data Is Stored

All app data is saved in a local SQLite database on your device. It remains on your device unless you choose to export it or delete it. Because we never receive your data, we cannot view, retrieve, or recover it for you.

03 — In-App Purchases

20MM offers a one-time lifetime purchase called Field Notes Pro. This purchase is processed through the Apple App Store and managed by RevenueCat (see Section 05). When you make a purchase:

Apple processes the payment. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

RevenueCat receives a purchase receipt and a randomly generated device identifier to verify and manage your entitlement. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or any content you have entered in the app.

Your Pro status is stored locally on your device. You can restore a prior purchase at any time using the "Restore Purchase" option in the app.

04 — Device Permissions

20MM may request the following device permissions. All are optional and the app continues to function (with reduced features) if any permission is denied.

Calendar: The weekly calendar strip on the Today screen reads events from your device's native calendar to display upcoming appointments. This access is read-only. Calendar data is displayed within the app only and is never transmitted or stored in the app database.

Location: The app can optionally capture local weather conditions at the time of your morning check-in, using your approximate location. If you grant location permission, your device's coordinates are sent once to Open-Meteo (an open-source, no-account weather API) to retrieve current conditions. Open-Meteo does not store or log user location data. The weather result (condition and temperature) is saved locally in your daily log. Your coordinates are not stored by the app or transmitted to us. If you deny location permission, weather capture is silently skipped.

Notifications: 20MM can send you local notifications, for example when a focus timer or break ends, or as optional daily reminders. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device. They do not involve any server and do not transmit any information to us or to anyone else. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

05 — Third-Party Services

RevenueCat: 20MM uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchase entitlements. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated device identifier and your purchase receipt from Apple in order to verify your Pro status. It does not receive your name, email address, or any content you have entered in the app. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Open-Meteo: If location permission is granted, the app sends your device's coordinates to Open-Meteo to retrieve local weather data. Open-Meteo is an open-source weather API that does not require an account and does not store or log user data. Their service is described at open-meteo.com.

Apple App Store: 20MM is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain information when you download or use apps, as described in Apple's privacy policy. That collection is governed by Apple, not by 20MM.

06 — Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

We do not use analytics tools. We do not track your activity across apps or websites. We do not show advertising. We do not build a profile of you. There is no behind-the-scenes behavioral data gathering of any kind in the app.

RevenueCat processes purchase transaction data solely to verify and manage your entitlement. This is distinct from behavioral analytics or advertising tracking.

07 — Children's Privacy

20MM is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect any personal information from anyone, no personal information from children is collected or stored by us.

08 — Data Security

Because your data stays on your device, its security is tied to the security of your device. We recommend protecting your device with a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, or similar, and keeping your operating system up to date. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but keeping data local rather than on a server removes many common risks.

09 — Your Control and Deleting Your Data

You are in full control of your data at all times. You can edit or remove entries within the app. To delete all app data, delete the app from your device, which removes its local database. If you have saved exported backup files elsewhere, you should delete those separately.

Because we do not collect or hold any of your personal information, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on a server. If you have questions about privacy rights that may apply to you under laws in your region, you can contact us using the details below.

10 — Data Export and Backups

20MM lets you export a backup of your data as a file. When you export, you choose where that file goes — saving it to your device, your personal cloud storage, or sending it to yourself. Once you move a file outside the app, it is under your control and subject to the privacy practices of wherever you send or store it. We are not involved in and have no access to exported files.

11 — Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the app adds new features. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top. If we ever introduce a feature that changes how data is handled, such as optional cloud backup or sync, we will update this policy to describe it before that feature is offered.
